What better way to have summer fun while vacationing than renting a bike? I was contacted by a friend from my alma mater, Davidson College, about a trip he was planning for his family to Hilton Head Island. I’m the proverbial bike guy to most people, so I’m supposed to know all about bike rentals around the country! Well, I did some searching and found a great shop called The Bike Doctor in Hilton Head.

The Bike Doctor has beach cruisers, of course. It’s a beach setting after all! They also have kids cruisers, sized right for the young ones aged 6 to 16. Want to bike as a pair? The Bike Doctor rents tandem bikes, too, for romantic evening rides with the sun setting in the west. They even have Kiddie Karts so that you can tow the wee ones behind your bike. And trikes! Pretty much, if it’s biking, they’ve got it.

Call ahead to make a reservation for your bikes if you are going to be in Hilton Head. Also note, they offer vacation resort discounts for certain area hotels and facilities.
