What makes a bike the best value mountain bike? We spent a lot of time trying to decide how to accurately assess the best value. There will be bikes that are several thousands of dollars that will be out of most buyer’s budgets and simply provide features that are unmatched. However, there are also the best value MTBs that are within a certain budget range.

We have decided to provide you with the top 3 bikes starting in the professional, high-budget range going down to the entry-level range for the average consumer.

1.     Ghost Cagua 6590 Suspension Bike 2014

Ghost Cagua 6590 Mtb

The best of the best on our list. The Cagua 6590 features full suspension, 27.5-inch wheel size and a beautiful red color. This is the bike for virtually everything from cross country to climbing and descending the roughest terrain.

The Cagua 6590 has 27.5-inch wheels which allow it to be a little more versatile than a 26” or 29”. The bike features SRAM brake, and shifter levers and derailleurs. Shimano brakes and hubs are seen.

The 6590 also features a very light weight of just 13.6 kg and full suspension for the most comfortable ride possible regardless of the terrain. Pedal efficiency is also terrific on this bike, allowing for uphill ascending to be a breeze. The four bar linkage system ensures downhill is just as easy.

For the serious mountain biker, this is the best value mountain bike on our list.

2.     Commencal Meta Hip Hop 2 Suspension Bike 2014

The Meta Hip Hop may not be as highly touted as our number one choice, but it comes at half the price and is up for trail riding, jumps and more.

Commencal Meta Hip Hop 2

The Hip Hop 2 is made with a lower center of gravity to ensure stability and 26” wheels to allow for added control. The frame is made out of Aluminum 6066 and is focused on a lightweight design. With a weight of just 13.7 kg, you will be able to take jumps with ease with this bike.

A full suspension is seen with FOX shocks and fork. SRAM shifters, cassette and cranks are seen among various other components. The chain is a YABAN SH10C.

For the semi-pro or frequent rider, this is the bike we would choose.

3.     Vitus Bikes Escarpe 275 Suspension Bike 2014

Vitus Bikes Escarpe 275 Bike

The Escarpe 275 would be impossible not to add to this list. While not quite the best entry level mountain bike option, this bike still provides something that most in this price range do not: full suspension. This alone is a reason to buy this bike, but there is a lot more to this bike than just the suspension.

The Escarpe comes with a 27.5-inch wheel size, Suntour rear shock, Shimano brake and shifter levers, derailleurs and cassette. Formula disc brakes allow for quick stopping and a KMC chain is used. This bike also features 27 speeds for fast, smooth riding.

This is the best choice on our entire list because it is mid-priced and perfect for racing or long distance fun.
