For the first time ever, Rwanda will celebrate the African Liberation Day (ALD) on May 25th. The celebration will be held at the University of Rwanda College of Business and Economics in Gikondo under the theme: “Women and youth at the forefront of African liberation.”
The international event is usually held annually as a symbol of African emancipation from colonial dominance. The day was established on 25th May 1963 when the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now African Union (AU), was formed. Rwandan pan-Africanists and civil society organizations are some of the expected participants in the event, together with women and youth organizations.Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Google+Share on Linkedin
